A practical sequence for choosing destinations, keeping codes scannable in print, and pairing them with honest on-page instructions.
1. Decide the job of the scan
Pick one primary action per code: leave a review, open the product page, visit your author page, or claim a bonus. Multiple competing CTAs on one page confuse readers and weaken results.
2. Prefer stable destinations
QR codes do not expire, but dead URLs do. Use Amazon review or /dp/ links for catalog actions, and keep custom landing pages live after publication. If you change hosts later, you must reprint or stop using that code.
3. Protect contrast and quiet zone
Dark modules on a light background scan best. Leave margin around the code, avoid busy paper textures under the modules, and raise error correction when you expect fold lines, staples, or light ink bleed.
4. Size for phone cameras
Very small codes fail in print. Use the size slider toward the upper range for interior pages, then test a printed proof with a phone before you approve the final PDF.
5. Tell readers what happens next
A short line such as “Scan for a free bonus puzzle” or “Leave a quick Amazon review” beats a bare code. The optional Scan Me frame helps, but clear nearby text still matters.

Not always. For Review and Amazon Book presets you can paste a 10-character ASIN. RodBooks resolves it to the matching review or /dp/ URL. Author Page and Custom expect a full URL.
Are the exports print-ready?
Yes. You can download PNG or SVG at the pixel size you set (QR size from 100 to 500 px, with larger framed dimensions when Scan Me is on). Place and scale thoughtfully in your layout, then proof on paper.
Can I match my cover colors?
Yes. Set foreground and background colors with pickers or hex values. Keep strong contrast so phones can read the code reliably.
Can I add a logo in the center?
Yes. Upload an image under 2 MB (PNG, JPEG, WebP, or SVG). While a center logo is active, error correction locks to High so the code stays scannable.
Do QR codes expire?
The codes themselves do not expire. They encode the destination URL you chose. As long as that URL stays live and reachable, the printed code continues to work.
